Book ReviewGranny Gomez and Jigsawby Deborah Underwood, Illustrated by Scott MagoonReview by Cathe Olson ![]() Granny Gomez is not sure a piglet is the right pet for her but when she finds out the pig would otherwise become bacon, she decides to give it a try. After all, they have a lot in common. They both love cooking shows. They both love watermelon. The piglet even shares her love for jigsaw puzzles . . . hence his name Jigsaw. But Jigsaw cannot remain a piglet forever. As he grows, Granny finds her house is not quite big enough or strong enough for a full-grown pig. She builds him a massive barn, outfitted with a complete kitchen, as well as a television for watching cooking shows, and shelves packed with jigsaw puzzles. In fact, the barn is as nice as Granny's house. With Jigsaw settled in, Granny returns home. The only problem is that Granny's house feels empty without Jigsaw. Watermelon doesn't taste quite right and it's no fun doing puzzles alone. Luckily, Granny and Jigsaw find a solution to their puzzle. This sweet story, inspired by the "fabulous pigs at Farm Sanctuary in Orland, California," is sure to warm the heart of you and your children, as well as tickle a funny bone or two. The watercolor illustrations are adorable and the story just perfect for children two and up. Buy a copy of Granny Gomez and Jigsaw now! |
