Product ReviewsFunky Monkey Snackswww.funkymonkeysnacks.com Review by Lori Harvey
With a catchy name as Funky Monkey and a label guaranteeing no sugar
added, who wouldn't
give this fruit snack a try? Funky Monkey is taking a different
approach to fruit snacks-freeze-
drying. In this way they can offer 100% fat free, real fruit snacks
that are all natural and gluten
free. Each bag offers three servings of fruit and in nice sizes rather
than the typical diced pieces.
Article continues below There are a variety of tantalizing flavors: Purple Funk, Pink Pineapple, Bananamon, Carnaval Mix, Jivealime, MangOJ, and Applemon. Both Bananamon and Applemon are mild in flavor and contain the base freeze-dried fruit with a nice dash of organic cinnamon. Purple Funk gets its unique name from the ingenious mixing of bananas and the super-fruit, acai. MangOJ has a splash of orange juice that times the mango sweetness, and Carnaval Mix is the line's mixed fruit snack with a nice combo of papaya, bananas, apple, and pineapples. Our two favorites I left for last: Pink Pineapple and Jivealime. Pink Pineapple has a wonderful tropical flavor that is delicious and not overpowering. It is a combo of freeze-dried pineapple and guava that compliments each other well. Biting into the Jivealime snack comes with a happy punch. This is due to the addition of limejuice to the freeze-dried pineapples-a definite must try! I did find it necessary to put these in a sealed container to keep the freshness and to retain what crispiness they have since there is not a reseal feature on the bags. Regardless, Funky Monkey fruit snacks are a handy snack to pop in a lunch box or to snack on anywhere. Do give them a try-at least you can say you had some Funky Monkey! |
