Product ReviewsManitoba Harvest Hemp Protein Powderwww.manitobaharvest.com Review by Cynthia Mosher
More and more vegans are choosing soy-free foods these days. While some have found themselves to be allergic to soy, many others are concerned about the health risks of consuming too much soy. With protein needs at the forefront of their minds, seeking alternatives is an important challenge. Hemp is a frontrunner in the field of vegan protein and Manitoba Harvest offers up a delicious hemp protein powder. Article continues below The latest from Manitoba Harvest is Dark Chocolate & Vanilla Organic Hemp Protein Powder. Added to smoothies and other drinks, you can boost the nutrition and the flavor all at once. I tried these using almond milk and bananas for the chocolate flavor and rice milk and dates for the vanilla. We loved the smooth taste but especially appreciated the chocolate and vanilla flavor that it gave. Because we have sensitivities in our family to soy and nuts, and a few who don't like to eat legumes much, I'm always looking for ways to increase protein where I can. This is definitely one of my favorites now, especially for my younger ones who love shakes! The ingredient lists are very straightforward for these new products: the Dark Chocolate contains: organic hemp protein powder; organic fair trade evaporated cane juice; and organic fair trade cocoa powder. It provides 10g of protein and 8g of fiber per serving. The Vanilla contains: organic hemp protein powder; organic fair trade evaporated cane juice; and organic vanilla flavor. This variety has 11g of protein and 8g of fiber per serving. These delicious certified organic products are gluten-free and there are no additives or preservatives, which increases my kudos for them. |
