The Ninja Blender
Review by Lori Harvey

Ninja Blender After a variety of test drives with the Ninja blender I will conclude that you get what you pay for. It is pricier than a regular blender and, thus, outperforms them. However, does it meet or exceed a professional-grade blender performance such as a Vitamix or Blendtec? No it does not.

After making a variety of drinks ranging from a slushy to a nutty green smoothie, I admit it fall just below a professional grade blender's ability. I was able to drink these beverages with more ease than the results of a regular blender, but they never come out smooth like a professional-grade blender can deliver. More than once I had to chew on a piece of ice, raisin, or nut because they were too big to swallow - they were larger than gritty. "Gritty" is the term I would use to clarify the results one should expect from this blender's performance.

When examining the blender itself, the noise level is pleasing low, the three tiered blade system is what gets the job done better and quicker than a regular blender, and the locking mechanisms are great "plus" features as well as the pour spout on the lid. Speaking of the lid, it has a great seal and with a lock-in-place handle, but there are a couple of flaws. Though everyone appreciates a tight seal lid, this one requires great effort to remove. This results in spattering once you are able to yank the lid off and a fear that the handle will break due to the amount of effort required. The blender is also quite tall. To paint a picture of how tall it is, you will not be able to store it on your counter under the upper cabinet without locking the handle in place. The power level features of the blender are not as intricate as some blenders. There is a power on and off button and then three power level buttons. Simple, to- the-point, and is actually all a person needs - at least me. The container, lid, and blade are all proven to be dishwasher safe.

In all, the Ninja blender is better than a standard blender and receives a four star rating - a star deducted for the minor flaws and somewhat gritty results.
