Vegan Recipes - breakfast

Tahini Oatmeal Tahini Oatmeal


A Middle Eastern twist on a traditional warm cereal breakfast. We eat this for a busy day dinner too!
  • 1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup vanilla nondairy milk, heated
  • 2 teaspoons tahini
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 3 pitted dates, chopped into pieces
  • toasted sliced almonds, for topping

Mix the oats, tahini, sugar and spices together in heatproof bowl. Add the hot milk (soy, rice, or almond). Cover and let stand for 5 minute. Add the chopped dates and almonds, sprinkle with some extra cinnamon and sugar if desired. Makes one serving.
