Why Did You Go Vegan?

Robert

I have been a vegan for almost 12 years now. I grew up a big meat eater and i mean BIG. I was a 300 lb. offensive lineman in college and I loved my steak and burgers. To this day I tell people "I've eaten enough meat to last a lifetime...".

I was exposed to the vegetarian lifestyle through John Robbin's DIET FOR A NEW AMERICA. The ethical issues of eating animals really struck me as an individual. I have always considered myself a hugh animal lover but all of a sudden I saw myself as a hypocrite. Why was I calling some animals my friends and some animals dinner?!?

I began to get involved with PETA (people for the ethical treatment of animals) and began to build even stronger opinions and beliefs in regard to animal rights.

Today I am a strength and conditioning coach and a Health and physical education instructor. I am, by trade, someone who teaches others how to live healthy, happy, and strong. I belive I teach this not just by saying, but by DOING. I truly believe that a vegan diet is the ultimate "sound nutrition choice" not only for us humans but also for all the animals.

My wife Francine is vegan and so is our beautiful baby Annabella (5 months). We intend to raise her completely vegan. In doing so, we belive that not only will she be physically strong, healthy and vibrant....she will also be compassionate and loving toward for ALL living things.
