Why Did You Go Vegan?
Wendy
I found this site by accident, and I am pleasently suprised, and when I began to read all these letters I was even more suprised to see that many of my fellow vegans switched over from vegitarianism to veganism the same way I had.

I had been a vegitarian for 30 years and during those 30 yrs had two beautiful children ( who also were vegitarians )About six/seven months ago my wonderful husband and I read a book about veganism. We had talked about changing before but habit and lazziness got in the way. This book took what we thought we were doing right ( eating free range eggs and only consuming organic milk and cheese ) and opened our eyes to the real horror stories about the milking cows and their babies the so called free ranging animals ect. ect. It wasn't something that we could turn our backs on. We now see how veganism is the natural progression for many vegitarians. If non- suffering is the biais for becoming a vegitarian it oly seems natural to take that philosophy to it's highest form. It was difficult at first, not because of any cravings, but because we were unaware of how many animal by-products are in foods. It took us twice as long at the grocery store but now that we know what is ediable and what is contaminated it is much easier.
