Why Did You Go Vegan?

I've always loved the taste of meat, but was never fully comfortable with eating it once I was told that it was produced by killing animals. For many, many years I tried to ignore this fact and greedily tore the flesh from bones convincing myself that this was natural and needed for my health. After all, I was a human being who was supposed to be superior to the creatures 'beneath' me.

But meat has always made me feel anxious, aggressive, and constipated. But it was easy eating meat and other animal products because they were everywhere and in just about everything. Who cared, right? Animals ate animals, right? Humans are on top of the food chain and should eat anything beneath them, right? But I never thought it was really right; not deep in my soul. As the years past I began studying Eastern Religions and getting in touch with those things I always knew but never saw expressed in writing before. Among these things was vegetarianism. The habit of meat eating stayed with me for years after that until finally decided to follow my true heart no matter the pressure from family, society, or spouse. It seems I've got a lot of company out there, and that makes me happy.
